I think it looks awesome coloured white:

Reminds me a little bit of Justiciar Hablion

Shame about the stats though We can only hope that someday ANet will make all armors insigniable.

Tehy should have either

1.) Gave us the armor shown above....

2.) or gave us a "White Mantle Armor" set

I mean cmon...look at them side by side and the ornate knights armor Barradin is wearing is by far the winner.

lol, first time i went to Kryta and saw the white mantle armor, i wanted it so badly. searched forever for it only to find out it didnt exist...

MAKE US WHITE MANTLE ARMOR PLZ!!!

I would get one for my female warrior in a heartbeat if it wasn't for lack of insignia...

If Anet's bothered about NF sales, then put a waving NPC at Kamadan or Consulate Docks who changes your armour to isignia-ready.

I know it can't just be coded in 5 minutes (it shouldn't be too hard either) but releasing an armour set long after Nightfall with NO insignia slots is a bit harsh.

its sad that there are so many cool armors in guild wars, and we can only wear 30% of them...

Yeah, but to have it permanently is like wearing a Shiro guild symbol, it represents something that most of the NPCs you work with are fighting against.
But to be clear, I think White Mantle plate is the coolest plate in the game.

This allows them to get "unique" looks that cannot be reproduced by our armors because our armors have SEAMS.

Look at the detailwork on hero armors. x.x

I think in order to get the detail we want, wed have to sacrifice being able to mix and match pieces.
This has nothing to do with it. If you've done any UV Mapping, you'd know that you're splitting up the texture many times anyways. There are seams all over the place. Having "sections" makes little to no difference. (especially when making a new group is a matter of selecting the tris on the hand an clicking "regroup")
You might have had a point if you were talking about, say, a lion (something that has an organic shape that can be done with wide, singular maps).

But Baradin has the exact same mesh as us. They have to split it in the same places, the UV looks identical. The "detail" on him is just a new map.(which is one of the reasons I am surprised they didn't just use his. it's just a new texture. that's it.) Apart from that, armor on characters like the White Mantle have so many separate parts (multiple lames & veneers that have to be broken up), that the work on that is even more complicated.
